Visiting the White Cliffs of Dover

Image
Today we had a lovely day touring the White Cliffs of Dover. We were hoping to have the chance to speak to the manager of the National Trust at the cliffs but unfortunately the two main people that we were supposed to speak to were already out filming for another documentary. After speaking to a polite woman she passed on Emma Milner's email, but it was the wrong email and we were unable to send her the email. After that, I decided to send it to the general enquiries of the National Trust (as they are the head of the White Cliffs of Dover). I'm just waiting to hear back from them with a positive reply. Since we were at the cliffs, we took the opportunity to do the hike to get an understanding of what we will film. Below are images of what we took (all picture were taken by Ida Frank, Cannon 600D)

Research on Coast of Kent

Image
After our discussion with Helen today as to what we will do on our project, we concluded that my team will do it on Kent's coast and the issues it faces. Below is research on possible topics we can explore in our documentary: (Please refer to Rosie Penns bog post on 'Kent Coastal Wildlife') stranded seals http://thanetcoast.org.uk/projects-and-issues/projects-and-issues/ Filter feeding Crustaceans in the Stour Estuary, Kent, UK; three species were found ( Corophium volutator, Corophium multisetosum and Chelicorophium curvispinum) Brownfield Land - this is land which used to be used industrially use or commercially used  Sewage problem caused by Souther Water http://www.kentonline.co.uk/whitstable/news/water-firm-fined-500k-after-26885/

Documentary - Pitch and Idea

Image
For our third unit we have to produce a 10 minute wildlife and nature film under the title 'Doorstep Wilderness'. It has to be a documentary that would be aired on the TV channel 'Eden' at 8pm. Whilst researching for my idea I came across Wildwood Trust.  http://www.wildwoodtrust.org/animalsmammals.html      It was hard deciding which animal to choose, but in the end I went with the bears. After reading that the bears wear neglected and abused it broke my heart and I had an even bigger interest in wanting to find out more as to what happened to the bears and what is happening with them now. Action Taken  I contacted the Press of Wildwood to check if it would be possible to film there but was told I had to contacted the education centre but through email. So now I'm just waiting for a response from them. After no response from WildWood or Kent Wildlife we have moved on from these topics to coast.
