Evaluation

When Helen first started discussion the unit brief to us I went into immediate panic mode. I hadn't quite understood hat exactly it was we had to provide, but after she showed us videos from previous years it was pretty straight forward. For this unit we all went into four groups of four. My group include Rosie, Cheyenne and Saskia. To start off, we all came up with separate ideas to produce to Helen and then decided which one we felt would have more to talk about. Our ideas in summary was about the use of fur in fashion and how ethical it is, the origin of make up trends and drag queens, reporting only good news in Kent, and finally a haunted village in Kent. My idea was the one about reporting all the good things happening in Kent "Good News". Even though, I really liked my idea the majority of the events happening in Kent had been over summer or were happening over the period of presenting our ideas. Therefore, we couldn't really go with that idea as we wouldn'

Graphics/Transitions/Promo video/Website

Image
Promo Video idea:  - want to have it more graphic based. We chose to go for a look of tiles which has footage/images of all of us and it then zooms to create our logo: This type of promo suits our genre for the news channel it is something simple but effective. Showing different footage and then revealing our logo. It has a sense of togetherness and unity. All the various graphics/transitions:  Graphics:            Transitions:              Website:  - We decided to go for a scroll down website. Even though i was not entirely sure about the scroll down, I ended up really liking it as it worked for our news channels  - The layout is an image of our presenters, then a bit about us and then promo video at the bottom, then our main news channel package, and finally 2 articles about fashion and make up written by me and Rosie. first attempt with original font/colours of logo  Final  logo/font/colour for website and logo

All shoot days

Shoot day for Presenters: Location: Maidstone TV Studios, UCA baseroom  Props: nothing Presenters: 2 Unlike our first/original shoot day, this one went a lot smoother and quicker. This was not only because we didn't have the green screen but also because we knew where to set the lights up for there to be no shadow. The only part that delayed us with the lighting was the fact that there were 2 presenters and we had to fidget a bit with the lights to make it even on the presenters so their faces do not look burnt out, but also we wanted to have the shine in the eyes which we achieved. We also had a clearer idea of how it would be presented. Meaning we knew were the graphics would go (over the presenters). Also, due to their being 2 presenters there was less hassle in the presenter trying to memorise a two page script, therefore the flow of it was smooth. Overall, it was a good shoot day, as we got good, various shots of our presenters with great lighting and sound (althoug

Logo Development

Image
We were a bit unsure of how to design our logo, so we have a few different examples. Cheyenne originally designed a blue and yellow 'Face Value' logo but we then decided that it was too childlike. We then tried the colours grey and blue. The colour blue represents intelligence and trust whilst grey portrays psychological neutrality. These colours matched our topic as we speak about the unspoken truth whilst also trying to maintain a neutral stand (we did not want to convey our beliefs onto our audience, but merely make them aware). When we had our group meeting to go through promo and news channel. We thought that maybe we could all try and think of another style for the logo and see which one we prefer. Evidently, we went for this logo which developed smoothly with suggestions from different members of the group. The main idea came from Rosie and Cheyenne edited it. The reason we only have colour on the lips is because it is a powerful colour with many different meanings

Article for Website - Fashion of fur

Image
Rosie has written a different article regarding make up with a specific look on contouring.  Fur vs. Humans   Fur has been used since ancient times. It is thought to be the first item of clothing created for humans to keep them warm and protected. Fur was also used and is still used in cold areas such as the Arctic. But when did fur become a way of boasting how successful and rich you? In this article we take a quick look at the history use of fur in fashion. The trade for fur had increased in 1670. This was because the Hudson's Bay Company had been combined by Royal Carter. Through this fur was able to be provided to many more people. From here on, even earlier, right up to the mid 20th century, fur was given the label of  luxury and success. Even though in the 17th century, there were some animal rights activists very little to nothing was done about the well being of animals. This was specifically over shadowed by writer, Agnes Laut, who had very little patience for s
