All shoot days

Shoot day for Presenters:
Location: Maidstone TV Studios, UCA baseroom
Props: nothing
Presenters: 2

Unlike our first/original shoot day, this one went a lot smoother and quicker. This was not only because we didn't have the green screen but also because we knew where to set the lights up for there to be no shadow. The only part that delayed us with the lighting was the fact that there were 2 presenters and we had to fidget a bit with the lights to make it even on the presenters so their faces do not look burnt out, but also we wanted to have the shine in the eyes which we achieved.

We also had a clearer idea of how it would be presented. Meaning we knew were the graphics would go (over the presenters). Also, due to their being 2 presenters there was less hassle in the presenter trying to memorise a two page script, therefore the flow of it was smooth.

Overall, it was a good shoot day, as we got good, various shots of our presenters with great lighting and sound (although the sound had a slight echo which can be fixed in post production).

Shoot Day for Wilson and Live Interview:
Location: UCA Rochester, Wilsons house
Props: images of Rihanna
Reporter: 1
Live Interviewees: 2

For our live interview we filmed at UCA using fashion students. What we wanted was to have a busy background that showed students working on their projects (=event).

We had some slight issues with the filming as it was too noisy and bright in the room. Due to there being too many students in one room, there is a lot of background noise of paper being ripped. We were put in a even more difficult position as we were given one clip mike and we did not have a long XLR lead to use, therefore we had to rely on the mic on the camera and the clip mike attached to Amy Ashmoore. This resulted in uneven sound levels between the 3 cast member in that scene, Amy was nearly peaking, I was distant and our third person can hardly be heard. We also had a slight issue with the lighting as the white balance was slightly off when it came to my face. All our characters came out clear except me. But this is something that can be fixed in post production.

The main struggle we faced when filming Wilson in his room was the lack of space we had. As Wilson was sorting him self out, the group and I had time to set up the equipment and had time to layout the lighting by using Cheyenne to fill in for Wilson. Therefore we were ready when Wilson was and could begin filming straight away. We first started of just setting up the camera and allowing Wilson to do his make-up (cut-away) and then filmed the interview. Whilst all this was going on we used a DSLR to film from different angles. Unfortunately, using 2 different camera it meant that we had two different qualities of images and that can be seen on the rough cut viewing.

Overall, I felt that this was a good shoot. We picked an exciting topic to discuss about and also a topic where we could easily find people to interview and discuss this topic with (as we are students of a fashion school as well). We did face a few challenges with sound and lighting which we overcame and could be fixed in post production.
