Evaluation

Writing the final versions of the script was fun, exciting but also a long process.

Having a clear idea of what directions my episodes where going I wrote skeleton drafts to begin with and worked like that. With each new draft,  added new jokes, stories lines. With guidance from Simon and his suggestions for certain characters I did make a few changes to some story lines and slightly changed my characters personality.

In the first few drafts of each episode Hara was becoming somewhat annoying and lacked a lot of humour. Therefore I decided to make her into a bit of a spiritual person who gives herself a pep talk in each episode but also one of those people who believes in positive thinking and constantly carries a positive thinking book with her, sage and incense.  Kotchy, didn't have much of a story, if you got rid of him you wouldn't even notice. Therefore I made him so that each time his family does something humiliating he captures it on camera or Sebastian does and he sends it to Kotchy.; he is always in some corner lurking about waiting for them to do something. At the end of the episode its revealed that he has been posting these videos online and with the views and subscribers he's been getting he has also been earning money. Hara and Kotchy have been the two characters that I have really struggled in making them interesting but believe that in the final draft I managed to make them better; less annoying and with more story.

Another issue that I seemed to struggle with was the length of my scenes. Doing research though and timing how long other sitcoms are gave me a much better idea of how long they should. My scenes range from 10s to 2mins and 30s and I'm very proud, as I managed to spread them out and cut them. I also had bulky dialogue at times but managed to see that most of it wasn't really needed and I cut them down or could rid of it all together. Two characters I got rid of, as they did not add any substance to my script were the two boys from the toilet scene just before Kotchy gets caught in episode 4.

For the read through, I managed to get some people involved and read through all episodes. Unfortunately during the recordings, there was some chit chat, my uncle couldn't read english so there were long gaps in between a sentence, and truthfully, people towards the end were getting agitated. Never the less, I took the initiative and edited bits out of the recordings and re-listened to what it would actually sound like without all the interruptions and breaks. Likewise, I got feedback from my "actors" and got a vey good understanding how my script sounds. The read through 100% help me with understanding that some dialogues was too bulky and some scenes were dragging on for too long and it helped me decide which bits to cut out.

All in all, I am very pleased with my finalised work and it will definitely be weird not to have to write any more stories with these characters.
