Read Through and Changes

EPISODES 2-6

Thoughts on episode after read through: (drafts number in brackets is the draft that was read during read through)

After the read through, I was able to get a much better understanding of how the script flowed and what it actually sounds like. Even though, I read the description, Hara's bits and some minor characters, I still got an understanding of what it was like. Truthfully some dialogue for characters was too long and the episodes where not as risky as episode 6, therefore in all episodes I added more risky description and dialogue to other characters. Likewise, I added easter eggs that hinted Mr Conrad was the guy Hara was going to meet.

As you will see below, I got rid of chunks of dialogue as well as some scenes that is because they were not benefitting the story in any way, and weren't particularly funny either.

For my older characters, there reading was not so good as English is not their strongest point, so there were chunks of silence in between 1 sentence  and a bit of mumbling while they re-read their words before saying it. For this, I edited the silent bits out, and re listened to it to get a much better understanding of what it would actually sound like.

Feedback from people who read it:

  • My uncle who spoke for Pappou Andrea suggested more heavy cypriot phrases/words to use that an english cypriot audience would understand, he also couldn't stop laughing when he was pre reading his lines.
  • The girl who read Andy was VERY shocked by the story lines and what her character was like.
  • Stav enjoyed reading his character and actually understood that although he has few lines he still manages to add humour to the story through his actions. The fact that he is naive when it comes to sex and he found it funny how oblivious Stav was the love guru being gay
  • Yiayia Maria who was read by my grandmother, agreed that greek grandmothers are obsessed with finding a husband for their granddaughter, and don't tolerate their husbands that much. She said that they are actually more stricter and that they would never be so open minded as Yiayia Maria. I explained that's what adds to the humour, Yiayia Maria has to deal with her hippie daughter.

Episode 2 (Draft 3):

  • Added more provocative dialogue throughout the episode to match episode 6
  • Yiayia Maria on p1 now says "men like women strong...more for them to grab"
  • P2 Pappou Andrea gives the finger to Andy after she was sarcastic to him
  • p6 added dialogue to the yoga instructor "what weird fucking noises"
  • p7 Hara winks at Mr Conrad and bites her pen
  • p11 I got rid of the scene with Pappou Andrea and Uncle Panny at the entrance to the swingers party
Episode 3 (Draft 4):
  • p4 added : Uncle Panny ask Hara if she's a virgin and Hara responds by asking what that word mean. Trying to make a joke but her whole family just stare at her
  • p9 Sebastian says that Hara looks like an Oumpa Loumpa and they joke about her bad make up
  • p10 added dialogue, Sebastian says that Hara has a spotty dialogue
  • Stav doesn't get any of the sexual innuendos Andy says
  • Sc12 gone (where Andy and Stav answer phone to Hara)
Episode 4 (Draft 3):
  • p2 added dialogue: Hara recommending Porn Hub to Andy
  • p3 Kotchy: he is perfectly done up, holding his briefcase
  • Got rid of the boys in toilet scene at Kotchy's school
  • p16 made it look that Mr Conrad is a bit interested in Hara by him starring at her lips
Episode 5 (Draft 2):
  • p7 when Hara falls into the mud, its left a big brown stain on the back of her jeans making it look like she pooed herself
  • p10 Sc9 got rid of Stav calling Yiayia Maria back to tell her where she is
  • When Hara spills coke all over Mr Conrad and she is helping wipe it off him, added innuendos of Hara saying that he has a big penis
Episode 6 (Draft 2):
  • p12 Kotchy records Hara pooing herself
  • at the end of the episode Kotchy is seen uploading videos of his family's adventures on his youtube account; views/subscribers are going up and so is the money in his bank account
