First work as Production Manager

When I was first assigned as a Production Manager I created a Google Drive Account where everybody could access it, stay up to date with scheduling but also so everyone could be aware of how the process is going with all departments.

The folders are; casting, contacts and minutes, josh presentations, promos/GIF, social media and trailer, Studio Content, Video Material, VT department

After that I created a schedule which everyone must follow; this schedule was created by the director, producer, assistant producer and  myself. What we did, was have a look at the already existing timetable and the type of VT which needed to be filmed. We then came to the conclusion of deadlines which needed to be met which are reachable. The deadlines can change but only with a good excuse, because if this happens, it will set the production back. One version of the schedule is seen below (the schedule is constantly being updated):

After this was the budget. I sat with Josh (the producer) and tried to figure out where the money could be spent. At first, Josh wanted £50 from each student for the budget. But, after discussing it with him that this is still a student production and not many students might be able to give the money, it was agreed to be £30. This would create the budget of £420. This money will be spent paying actors, contestants, host, sets and props for VT and getting the license for sound.

As production manager, I decided to set a certain amount of money to be spent in various departments. Each department (vt, sound, social media/trailer) will have between £20 and £25 to spend which will take £60-£75 from the £420. This budget is only for them to know how much they are allowed to spend on sets and props for their filming. The travel expenses and food for actors is a different budget.

One thing which the producer and director must remember is that some actors request the equity rate which is £55 a day. I have reminded them of this and we thought that maybe we could ask the host to come in for 4 auditions which will take £220.

(The above budget is subject to change depending on who is chosen and locations which are selected)
