Finding my actors for my drama

Image
Lera Krasikova as Elena Gilbert  Jack Taylor as Jeremy Gilbert  Luke Dillon as Damon Salvatore  Charlie Red as Stefan Salvatore Note: finding actors has been extremely tricky and a experience I won't forget from the panic and stress it caused. Many people responded to my application that they were interested but when I contacted them I had no replies from no one. And those who promised to send me audition tapes never did. In the end, I took a choice of getting rid of my actress Caroline as she only had 2 lines to say and made them into Stefans lines. As for finding my actors to play the parts of Stefan and Damon I tried contacting people on Casting Call Pro but once again had no responses. In the end, I asked two of the boys from halls if they would mind playing the parts and thankfully they agreed.

Script Development

Image
After the feedback from script about my dialogue heavy script, I thought really hard how I would make it easier for my actors to remember their lines. 1. I decided to get rid of one of the unnecessary characters, Caroline. The reason is because she says only 2 lines and I felt that she didn't really add much to the drama. 2. I decided to change some of the location also. So instead of having it exactly the same as the original (bedroom, kitchen and living room) I decided only to have it done in the kitchen and bedroom with a few adjustment to the words such as 'couch'. 3. I've also added more action to make it easier for my actors of what I want it to look like.

Drama light practise

Image
In our second lighting workshop, I decided to try and see how I would make my video work. My scene is set at night time and is rather dark. Below are screen shots from the actual scene: When I tested out my lighting this is what it looked like: --> This is how I lay out the lights --> How it looked on the camera (also see video below)                 In the testing it looks brighter than how i wanted (I mainly want their faces to be seen clearly and their body to be darker)

Pre-Production

Colour of Scene: After a lot of research I feel that this best describes the colour of my scene. Their faces are highlighted whilst their body is more shadowy creating a more intense moment. Mood boards:  I wasn't able to make a proper mood board - due to lack of skills in photoshop but I found images which best describe my drama scene and are relevant to the atmosphere and mood of it. Shot List:

Costume Design

Elena Gilbert; skinny jeans, tight fitted long sleeve top, cardigan  Damon Salvatore and Stefan Salvatore; very similar clothing to each other, loose jeans and different coloured t-shirts (black and grey) Jeremy Gilbert; black jeans and a black top (also a black leather jacket if the actor has one)

Location Scouting for Drama

Image
Originally I was going to film my video in one of the room in the base room. But after discussing the script with Simon, we came to the conclusion that it would be best if I actually filmed in a house. It was difficult finding someone with a house that I wanted and after a lot of hunting and begging, I chose to film at my cousins house. The bits which will be filmed in this house is the living room scene and and the kitchen scene. The bedroom scene is going to be filmed at UCA halls. (images coming soon) Below are images of the kitchen: Below is images of the bedroom:
