What inspired me about his series:
Mainly the fact that he directed very similar series like the series that I chose (he actually directed some of the episodes of my series).
3/5 series are very dark based (PPL, The Originals and The Vampire Diaries) whilst the other two (Twisted and Switched at Birth) have more of a warm colour (very brown based) except Twisted where in some episodes it goes very dark.
Below are images of Grismer doing the last episode of Vampire Diaries where they kill off the main character (Elena - the whole series is based around her) : from the beginning of the series to now, the colour has not changed:
As you can see above the colour tone of the scenes is what I am trying to aim for. It creates a sense of drama and depression.
When looking at his episode of Pretty Little Liars, but also the other series I have chosen, I can see that there are many head shots and tracking shots that take place. (Below: 0:36 - ). What I particularly like in the clip below
NOTE TO SIMON: I am aware that in my blogs I have been mentioning that I want darkness and their faces to be light up but due to the fact that I havent found a stable location yet (as the people change their mind) I'm not sure if I will manage to have the darkness I wanted incase they dont have strong blinds to keep the sunlight out or its just too bright.
